AVIDG defers “Industry Leadership and Structures” foundation project
2 November 2006
The AVIDG (Australian Vegetable Industry Development Group) has deferred its “Industry Leadership and Structures” foundation project until December 7 2006.
The decision was taken after AUSVEG informed the AVIDG on October 26 that they have already commenced their review of the Grower representation structure in Australia.
The AVIDG is a joint Australian Government/Australian Vegetable Industry Project which aims to create a sustainable and profitable future for the Australian Vegetable Industry.
AVIDG chairman Richard Bovill, says it’s important that parties across the Australian Vegetable Industry supply chain work together to achieve reform.
“The purpose of AVIDG is to invest in projects with the highest potential to create positive and lasting change in the industry’s profitability, growth and sustainability. Given that AUSVEG has already commenced their review into the structure of Grower representation across Australia, the AVIDG felt it was appropriate to take a step back and allow their process to be completed. We don’t want to create any confusion about who is running which process. The decision to defer our project gives AUSVEG the time they need to complete their process before we make any further decisions about the direction and content of our “Industry Leadership and Structures” foundation project.
