Vegetable Industry Export Business Plan
This Plan has been developed in consultation with AVIDG members, members of the Vegetable Industry Export Network and other key stakeholders. It identifies five key strategies that the industry should implement in order to improve its capacity to compete with China in the domestic and third party markets as well as develop export opportunities for Australian vegetable products in China.

Market Information Audit
At the inaugural meeting of the Vegetable Industry Export Network, members confirmed the need to address the issue of export market information. China was identified as a competitive threat to the profitability and sustainability of the Australian vegetable industry’s domestic and export markets and also as a potential opportunity that is currently poorly understood.
A Market Information Audit has been developed to provide context and information that will inform the industry as to where it could focus its efforts to compete successfully for export markets in an increasingly competitive global business environment. Its purpose is to identify the information gaps and priorities, with a focus on China.

Project: Market Information Audit
In its own strategic plan, Vegvision 2020, the Australian vegetable industry set its sights on doubling its value by the year 2020. In order to achieve growth of this magnitude the industry will need to grow export sales significantly.
In November 2006, the Vegetable Industry Export Network was formed. The Network brings together seven of Australia’s larger vegetable exporters and provides a mechanism for industry to work collaboratively to prioritise export market opportunities and identify opportunities for growth.
At the Network’s inaugural meeting, members confirmed the need to address the issue of export market information. China was identified as a competitive threat to the profitability and sustainability of the Australian vegetable industry’s domestic and export markets and also as a potential opportunity that is currently poorly understood.
The objective of the Market Information Audit was to provide context and information that will inform the industry as to where it could focus its efforts to compete successfully for export markets in an increasingly competitive global business environment. Its purpose was to identify the information gaps and priorities, with a focus on China.
