Development Programs
The Australian Vegetable Industry Development Group has a number of key Development Programs underway. The Foundation Projects form a significant part of the Programs. These are described below.
Foundation Projects
There are seven foundation projects that are key outputs of the ‘Taking Stock and Setting Directions’ report undertaken in 2005. The Industry Strategic Plan was launched on 13 September 2006 and the recommendations in the Industry Structures Report are now being considered by the Group. Development of a Vegetable Industry strategic planThe AVID Group commissioned the consulting firm Kiri-ganai Research Pty Ltd to consult with industry stakeholders and formulate the Australian Vegetable Industry Strategic Plan. Industry leadership & structuresThe AVID Group commissioned the consulting firm Strategic Business Development to prepare a scoping paper to inform discussion on industry structures to meet the needs of the vegetable industry into the future. The project has been completed and recommendations from the report are being considered by the group. |
Global comparison studyGood market intelligence and knowledge of competitor’s practices are fundamental to improving Australian production systems and competitiveness. A study would compare Australian and overseas market situations. |
Industry information and decision support frameworkQuality and timely data about many aspects of the vegetable industry is required to make informed decisions by industry bodies, Government and individual businesses. Market DevelopmentThe Australian Vegetable Industry needs to expand its domestic and international markets through identifying points of difference and capturing competitive advantage. An intensive market investigation is in progress. |
