Industry information and decision support framework
Rationale
The Taking Stock report identified the lack of quality and timely data and information about many aspects of the industry. Such data is required to make informed decisions by industry bodies, Government and individual businesses.
Outcomes
The expected outcomes of developing an industry information and decision support framework include:
- Informed decisions for investment by industry and commercial players in the supply chain to develop growing profitable markets for Australian vegetables.
- Better understanding and monitoring of domestic consumer demographics and vegetable purchasing habits.
- Knowledge of product and packaging specifications and trends.
- Improved matching of supply and demand.
Challenges
- Access to reliable and timely industry and market data for decision-making.
- Developing open and constructive communication between industry participants.
