Vegetable Industry Strategic Plan (Summary)

The new strategic plan for the Australian vegetable industry, Vegvision 2020, was launched on 13 September 2006 by the Australian Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Peter McGauran, and the Chairman of the Australian Vegetable Industry Development Group (AVIDG), Mr Richard Bovill. Mr Bovill said the vegetable industry now had a clear way forward for all parties to collaborate and invest in initiatives with the potential to shape and drive future industry growth.

The Plan is for the whole of the Australian vegetable industry - it is not the AVID Group’s plan or a plan just for the vegetable growing sector.  It is being built on the imperative to satisfy consumer demand and based on the experience, knowledge and ideas of the industry’s value chain businesses, service providers and other stakeholders.  The plan will focus on strategies which will make a difference to the performance of the whole industry and add value to the commercial operations and services of existing sectors and businesses.
